The Corporate Services Portfolio Committee annual report for 2025/26 will be presented to Council.
The Corporate Services Portfolio Committee is one of the City of Cape Town's Section 79 portfolio committees. These committees oversee particular functional areas and report to Council. Council established this committee on 15 December 2021, and adopted its terms of reference on 27 January 2022. Those terms of reference say that the committee should recommend its annual report for approval. The committee must also assess and evaluate its own performance and achievements. The 2025/26 annual report is therefore an accountability document. It summarises how the committee carried out its oversight work over the financial year, which runs from 1 July to 30 June. Its portfolio covers internal functions such as shared services.
The report sits within the City's wider annual reporting cycle. In the most recent cycle, the City published its integrated annual report for the 2024/25 financial year. That report lists Corporate Services among a set of Section 79 portfolio committees that now also includes Finance, Energy, Safety and Security, and Human Settlements. The City publishes its integrated annual reports, oversight reports and Council resolutions on its annual reports page on the official website.
For residents, these reports show how Council holds the administration to account. They also record how well the City's internal support services, such as human resources, legal and administrative functions, are overseen. The City's reporting aligns with the King IV recommendations on corporate governance and with globally accepted standards for integrated reporting.
